I wish I had recorded my daughter’s absolute glee when she saw herself “star” in a video next to Dora, Boots and Diego thanks to Kideo! She just couldn’t help laughing at the thought of being a part of one of their adventures. And when Dora said her name, she flipped out! ¡Le encantó!
Kideo personalizes each of the video options it offers using a photo of your child so they can “star” alongside their favorite characters which, besides Diego and Dora, include Barney, Spiderman and The Care Bears. Once the video is ready you have the option of buying the streaming or downloadable version or you can even buy a DVD. They even give you the option of checking it out for free.
We chose an episode where Dora, Boots, Diego and Vanessa have to rescue baby jaguar. Throughout the 22-minute video, Dora calls out my daughter’s name asking her stuff like “Where do we go next, Vanessa?” and “Can you see the ladder, Vanessa?”
I loved that parents have two options when it comes to bilingual videos, the one we chose and another one in which Dora celebrates your child’s birthday.
I know this type of videos that can be customized have been around for a while, but we had never tried them out. I don’t know why because they’re really a lot of fun. One of the best things was how easy it was to put together. You can upload a picture of your child from your computer, from Facebook or even after you take one with your webcam. Then you crop and align the photo, enter your child’s name and voilà!
