I had never thought of including a music video as part of our Video of the Week, but our reader and friend, Melissa Basadre, recommended this one by the very popular bachata artist Prince Royce. In her words:
“I’m sure you’ve heard this version of Stand By Me but I wanted to share it with you anyway, as I think it’s a perfect example of bilingualism! ¡Me encanta y tiene mucho ritmo!“
We agree with Melissa. It’s a beautiful song we all know, now in a soulful, bilingual rendition our niños can truly enjoy.

It is funny this is the video of the week. My husband who is american is reallly trying to learn Spanish. So he watches Univision in morning before I get up. I don’t know what show he watches but they show music videos and they always show this song and he totally loves it. I was surprise when he had it ready in youtube to show it to me because he likes this version so much. Now he has the CD and listens to it in the car all the time.
That’s a great story! Is he singing it, too? We might need a video! LOL!
I just blogged about this not too long ago. http://livesimplylovestrongly.blogspot.com/2010/07/my-vote-for-best-and-worst-latin.html Love this song and video!
Thanks for sharing your link. Seems like this video is much more popular than we thought!
Well my little ones watched it with me and really liked it. What a perfect mini lesson this turned out to be. Thanks!
That’s great, Lisa! That’s exactly what we hoped!
I love this song!!! Me encanta y Adrian está fascinado con la bachata, jaja!
My 8th grade Spanish class, a mix of native speakers and those first being exposed to Spanish as a foreign language, LOVE this! Since it seems to reflect so well our task of learning to stand by each other and become un equipo, we are planning to perform it at the upcoming Hispanic Heritage Month assembly.
That’s so great! If there’s a video, send us the link! We’d love to see them
