It’s so true what they say about second children. They don’t get as much attention as the first one…for obvious reasons. I hate to say it, but it’s happened in our home with my little boy. He’s barely gotten any new clothes because I’ve used a lot hand-me-downs. In terms of toys, besides the handful of cars and trucks he’s received as gifts, he’s inherited all of his sister’s baby toys.
So when Fisher Price came asking if we were interested in doing a review of their Laugh and Learn “Learning Kitchen” I gladly accepted for three reasons. First, I’m a loyal Fisher Price customer. My sister gave my daughter, Vanessa, a Laugh and Learn “Learning Home” three years ago when she turned one, and she is still playing with it (and so is her little brother, of course)! I honestly love their products not only now that I’m a mom, but when I was a child back in Peru, too. I have many a great memory of playing with my Fisher Price house and airplane back when the little dolls were like cylinders without arms. ¿Se acuerdan?
Second, I’m absolutely thrilled that more and more Fisher Price is incorporating Spanish into their toys. The Learning Kitchen is no exception. It has a Spanish mode and children get the same key words they hear in English in Spanish. It even has a song in Spanish! Funny thing is that the recommended ages are from 6 months to 36 months and, as soon as we opened it, my 4-year-old couldn’t hide her excitement—especially when she heard it spoke Spanish. “Español!” she belted out immediately. I truly think that hearing these type of toys “speak” Spanish does a lot to validate the language in the eyes of our children. Not to mention that it’s a great way to introduce simple vocabulary to those children just getting their initial exposure to Spanish.
Finally, I accepted because I thought it’d be nice for my little boy, Santiago, to have a toy all of his own. So, thanks Fisher Price!

I am bilingual and this would be a nice Christmas present for my baby girl.

my daughter would love this kitchen! She has the laugh and learn kitchen we bought at a garage sale that she plays with all of the time! The only problem is not all the pieces came with it and the sounds do not work:(. And since this is both in Spanish and English it would be great for her to have a new, bilingual kitchen she can play with that works.
I really don’t want to enter to win, I just think it’s so wonderful that companies such as Fisher Price are putting an even stronger emphasis on Spanish and English learning in the same toy! Latino children feel proud of their Spanish language while Anglo children have a chance to learn Spanish vocabulary words with smiles/sonrisas!
I’d like to win it because I know my girls would love to pretend cook, plus to be able to have it both in English and Spanish is something I want my girls exposed to.
I would LOVE to give this to my nephew for Christmas–I live 3 hours away from him, and I know he won’t get to learn Spanish at home…but this would be a great learning tool for him!

I would love to win the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Kitchen because since committing to make my baby bilingual I have an obsesion with making sure that every toy I buy speaks Spanish! And I’m sure my little one would LOVE to have this Cocina to go along with her Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Casita!!!
Me encantaria ganar, because in Arkansas I can use all the help I can get to ensure that my Xochitl grows up bilingual.

I saw this on TV last night and my younger son said, “That toy speaks Spanish! How did they do that!?” … lol.
He’s turning 9 in a couple days, much too old for this toy – but I’d like to win it to gift to my sister who will have her first baby next spring.
BTW – I totally had the Fisher Price airplane, and I still have some of those armless people. I love them.

I’d love to win it for my son! It was so much easier to teach Spanish to my daughter when she was an only child but with him I see it will not be as easy since his sister is speaking in English to him when they play.
This would be a great toy to encourage them to play in Spanish!

Your first line caught my attention: my second (14 months old now) needs some toys of her own too. And since having my second one, I pretty much only get my kids toys and books that have Spanish. My first child is still very English dominant and I’m striving for more balance and BIlingualism.

#2 is coming soon, and I would love to have a new toy to go with all the hand me downs. THanks!
I have a 10 months old who loves to be on the floor playing and exploring new things.. and he would totally love the little kitchen (well! me too). and since we are raising him as a bilingual it would come very handy ’cause he only have a couple of bilingual toys. I also love that the kitchen is neutral!
