Vanessa has been devouring the books from a children’s series called Junie B. Jones. So when someone told me some of the books in the collection have been translated to Spanish, I went searching to see if I could find them. And I stumbled upon something completely unexpected.

I found the books, but in a place I honestly didn’t expect at all: Did you know they have a HUGE selection of Spanish/bilingual children’s books? I had no idea and I must say I was impressed. From board books for the little ones to chapter books for the bigger ones, there’s something for everyone on the site. And I love that with  many books you have the site-to-store options, which means you can order them and go pick them up at your local store.

So for Valentine’s Day, I decided to see how many books under $10 I could get for a total of $30.

For Vanessa, I got one of the Junie B. Jones books in Spanish and I can’t wait to see her face when I give it to her. Although I’m weary of translations, this one is well done and I like the idea that she can read the books she likes in English in Spanish too. I also got her another book from Alfaguara Infantil — which I was surprised to see on — and even though it might be kind of easy for her to read, I’ve been asking her to read to her little brother, so this will be perfect!

For Santiago, I decided to go with the bilingual version of the popular The Very Hungry Caterpillar because we had seen the English version at the library and he told me they read it in preschool and he loved it. As you can see, he got his hands on it before I was able to wrap it for Valentine’s and he was super happy when I read it to him in Spanish. I also got him a book about a bunny that has his name. I think he’ll get a kick out of that and I can’t wait to give it to him!
