Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you’re spending time with your family and friends, eating delicious food and feeling loved.

Today, I want to take the time to thank the two little people responsible for the existence of SpanglishBaby, our daughters, Camila and Vanessa.

In the past three years, we’ve shared stories about them and our journey to raise them bilingual and bicultural. But I don’t think we’ve ever really stopped to tell you that without them, this blog wouldn’t exist. It was because we found ourselves as first time mamás completely sure that we wanted to raise our girls to speak Spanish, but completely unsure of how to do it that SpanglishBaby was born.

While looking online for resources to help us accomplish our dream of raising them bilingual, we realized there was little out there. Knowing that we were not the only mothers wanting the same for their children, we decided to create SpanglishBaby.

So, thanks to Camila and Vanessa, the original SpanglishBabies, for making this a reality and for helping Ana and I build this loving and supportive community around something we’re so passionate about!

Sadly, our niñas don’t get to see each other much, but when they do, they have the kind of relationship you can only have with those you love like family: they have tons of fun together, but they can also fight like sisters!

I think it’s safe to say that when we met back in college many moons ago, neither Ana nor I ever imagined that our daughters would bring us together in what has become our labor of love.

¡Gracias, hijas!
