As some of you might know, I’m taking my family back home to Perú in a couple of weeks. I am ecstatic. Looking forward to eating tons of ceviche and helado de lucuma while hanging out with all the people I love so dearly. My family has yet to meet my son, Santiago, and I get to spend my birthday over there — something I haven’t done since I was a child.
But one of the things I’m looking forward to the most is getting away from the cold since it’s summer in that part of the hemisphere right now! However, this has meant looking for children’s summer clothes in the dead of winter. I kept some of my daughter’s clothes from last summer, but only a few things fit since she’s grown some since then. My son, on the other hand, has absolutely no summer clothes, save for a bunch of second-hand T-shirts I got from a good friend’s son. Still, no shorts whatsoever.
I have to admit it was kind of weird to shop for summer clothes while it was snowing outside, I was super happy when I realized that not only did Old Navy already have summer clothes for the kids, but they’re also having a mega sale — both online and at stores — on their kids and baby clothing until Feb. 17th. The first thing my daughter went for were the bathing suits since the one thing she’s loving the most about the idea of going to Perú is that we’ll be going to the beach! She hasn’t been to la playa since May of last year in Miami.
I’ve always loved Old Navy for their affordable clothing since kids, especially when they’re my son’s age, outgrown stuff so quickly! But what I’ve always really, really liked is that a lot of their T-shirts are made in Perú, with our world-renown cotton which is super soft!
I ended up getting 4 cargo shorts for Santiago, one graphic T-shirt, one polo shirt and one shirt which he’s wearing on this picture together with one of the belted cargo shorts. I can’t get over how cute and big he looks!
For Vanessa, I bought a pair of patchwork bermudas which she’s wearing on this picture with one of two tank tops. I also got her two graphic T-shirts. I usually never win anything, but if I win I would definitely buy some clothes to my son since he is growing so fast and I know those old navy clothes won’t be only worn by my son, also for his friends that we always give clothes for. To be honest I’ll by myself some working out new clothes because I just got a job in a zumba studio!! here in Denver and I need nice workout clothes para zumbear!!!

I would use the gift card to buy new clothes for my 3 years old son…..summer is coming and he will need new clothes, since the one from last year won’t fit him. And it’s kind of hard since my husband is the only one working.
If I win the gift card, I will give it to my daugter Ana (11). She loves the colors of Old Navy design. And I love it because it’s the only place she consents to go shopping with me. Every time we visit the US we save some time to shop together at Old Navy. Ohhhh and I love the quality of the fabric, great Peruvian cotton which lasts through a million washing cycles without fading or thining!
I would use the money to buy clothes for my 2 year old son. We live in Mexico and don’t have Old Navy so we always love visiting stores like this when we are with our families stateside!

Thank goodness someone was selling summer clothes in the middle of winter! That’s always a frustrating situation, (when you need something seasonal that isn’t in stores.)
If I won I would buy some cool summer clothes for my younger son. He is always getting hand-me-downs from his big brother and he’s getting to the age where he’d like to pick his own “style” rather than being forced to accept his brother’s!
BTW – Santiago has gotten so big! :*) I love that some of the clothing is “Made in Peru”. (We’re always checking tags to see if our clothes are made in El Salvador. We’re planning our first trip for our baby girl to Puerto Rico in April as well. Her bisabuelita saw her when she was born, but bisabuelito hasn’t met her yet. Can’t wait – should be a great trip! Well because I love Old Navy of course! Now seriously, I tend to do A LOT of my shopping during their clearance time. I stock up in plenty of larger sizes, so my little ones can use it the following year. Well…it’s still a little ways off, but I am starting to get baby fever, and I’d LOOOOOOVE to stash a giftcard now for future maternity clothes. I should win this gift card because my family is also preparing a trip to Peru! We are planning to move there later this year due to a job transfer, and as we will be arriving just as spring is starting there, we’ll be needing lots of new clothes due to the change in seasons from the US cycle. With three growing kids to clothe, our clothes budget could always use some help….
The first people that comes to my mind are my sister and nieces in Mexico. I would buy them clothes to help my sister out. She has two girls (12,9), she is divorced and works very hard to provide for those girls. I am very blessed in this Country and I know that in Mexico even though you work really hard, it is still very hard to buy anything. It is more expensive there and I just think about them and breaks my heart that right now, one of them is almost a teenager and would like to have pretty clothes like any other girl that age. I would buy something for my sister too. She is such a hard worker and a good mom. She has even starting to sell food a her work place to make a little bit more money.
