I am lucky–very lucky–to have many friends who are raising bilingual children around me. Our weekly playdates with Dariela´s son, Adrián, have become a source of intense joy for Camila. I can´t help but say how cute they are together!
I´ve told you before how Adrián, who´s being raised with the OPOL method, knows to speak in Spanish as soon as he sees Camila and me coming. A couple of weeks ago, I took care of both at my house. I let them go crazy with the water and the mud and sat back to enjoy their silliness, en español. This video is a glimpse into the lives of two bilingual children, one being raised with OPOL and the other with mL@h.
Please share with us any videos you have of your bilingual children! Just drop the link in the comments below.

My girl and her younger brother love Max & Ruby so much that they actually call each other Max and Ruby most of the time. And we’re starting the Dual Language adventure this year so any other help would be great!
I have to agree, they are so cute!!! Love that you catched that on video!
How truly lucky you are too have someone to have Spanish play dates with. I am still out of luck around here. Maybe we can try to get together for one when I am out in Cali next month. You’ll often have to remind my chiquitines that they have to talk en Español. =)
Where do you live, Lisa? Have you tried meetup.com and searched for Spanish language or bilingual playdates?
Awesome Ana! Awesome! I just had two parents in my Texas training yesterday speaking about helping their child become bilingual in Spanish and English. We spoke about bilingual playgroups or Spanish playgroups. I love your advice on searching on meetup.com!
Thank you / gracias for this capturing of young ones ‘getting it!’
Wonderful video Ana! It reminds me a lot of my wife’s long conversations with the kids about very simple things. She always engages them and asks questions, explains things and rephrases things so that she is achieving her goal of getting them speaking Spanish and they are accomplishing their goal of getting attention and being heard.
Although our kids go back and forth between speaking Spanish and English when they play, my son for some reason is speaking much more Spanish now and my daughter goes along with it.
Thanks for sharing a little slice of your life!
