Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is almost here, so it’s time to get ready for this festive tradition. My favorite part about DdlM is the generally positive attitude toward death and remembrance, instead of fear or *unending* grief. I would use the recipes @ home with my family, and the craft ideas in my classroom. I particularly would like to see the instructions on making an ofrenda. We’ve tried in the past, but not all of them were successful. I’d love some tips!

I like the spooky make up and lighting lots of candles
I work in the Education and Public Programs department at El Museo del Barrio.
I plan the annual Dia de los Muertos celebration and get to engage over 2,000 people in our celebration, plus the 1,000+ students that attend our art workshops and altar talk.
Dia de los Muertos is my favorite holiday and a wonderful way to celebrate life, and to remember the people who have left us but return on this special day.
I am going to see how many of these activities I can incorporate into our programming for 2012.

I like the way Día de los muertos is used to celebrate the memory of loved ones. Invariably when I talk about it in my classes, my students initially find it creepy or strange. I would use the decorations, games, and recipes to help my students understand the positive characteristics of the holiday.
my favorite is putting up an “altar de muertos”, it’s been a while since I put up one but I would like to start that tradition with my 3 year old and the ebook will be great to start this year.

My favorite tradition is setting up the altar! I grew up in México and every year we will decorate my auntie’s grave. Since I’m too far to do that now, I set up a little altar at home in her memory. This ebook has tons of decorations I can use!

I love the cute, colorful, and crafty ideas presented in this book! My favorite tradition is making sugar skulls and decorating them … I hope this book has some recipes for ‘pan de muerto’ I would love to make some and share with teachers!

My favorite part of Day of the Dead is the historic connection of this celebration and all the fun activities that can be done with family. I look foward to Day of the Dead bread recipe as well as the craft tutorial to make papel picado. Exploring cultural activites will reinforce identity and language in my family and this is extremely important for all of us.
