I recently got a bunch of Crayola goodies in the mail, just in time for Back to School, which was pretty early for my daughter who started Kindergarten the first day of August.

All the products are part of Crayola’s new line of washable, smudge-proof and odorless dry erase crayons which are supposed to never dry out.

The products, all of which are available at Walmart, included:

Crayola Dry- Erase Bright Crayons

Crayola Dual-Sided Dry-Erase Board

Crayola 3D Dry-Erase Activity Set

Crayola Dry-Erase Activity Center

Needless to say, both my kids were in heaven! Santiago immediately gravitated toward the 3D Dry Erase Activity Center and I must say that the two things I loved best about this product were how easy it was for a 2-year-old child to use the crayolas and the fact that they’re washable, because my son pretty much managed to get it all over his clothing!

Like any little brother, Santiago loves to imitate his older sister. So, even though he obviously can’t draw a thing just yest, he was just happy to be able to scribble some lines while sitting next to his sister who was doing some serious drawing next to him on the Dual Sided Dry Erase Board.

At 5-years-old, Vanessa loved the idea of drawing something, admiring it, erasing it and creating something completely different. And so for about 20 minutes, she would ask me what I wanted her to draw and I got to admire some pretty cool masterpieces: a rainbow, a house, a bicycle, the beach. Vanessa really liked being able to choose between the black side of the board and the white one. I think she liked the black one better.

Later on, we travel to the mountains to visit my sister. Vanessa decided to take the board so she could draw on the way there. She pretty much entertained herself with it for much of the hour-long ride!

It was great to see her write the alphabet on the board without an ounce of help from me. The best part? She wrote it in Spanish and she included the ñ! Look closely and you’ll see it! I was so proud, I had to take a bunch of pictures. She couldn’t figure out what the big deal was!

How do you ignite your kids’ creativity?
