The Immersion Program at Liberty School is a language-oriented program following a 90/10 model designed to build fluency in both Spanish and English. Students have the opportunity to develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in both languages.

Program Goals
Bilingualism: High levels of proficiency in English and in Spanish
Biliteracy: High levels of academic achievement in English and in Spanish in all content areas
Multicultural Competence: Understanding different cultures and development of high esteem

Why it Works:
Children learn language…
Through purposeful, authentic experiences with language
Through using language as a means of communication rather than as an isolated subject
Through creative construction in which errors are part of the natural acquisition process
Through interaction and practicing language in a variety of contexts.

The Program
Focus on Academic Achievement in Both Languages – High levels of language skills in both languages
Monolingual Delivery of Lessons – Separates languages for instructional purposes; teacher adheres to language of instruction
Positive Instructional Climate – Faculty commitment to program goals
Strong Parent Support – Understand and support program goals
Quality of Instructional Personnel – Native/native-like proficiency in languages of instruction

Our children are creative, thinking high-achievers, confident in their own abilities. They are committed to life long learning and responsible citizenship. They are unique individuals who take pride in developing their own full potential. Our diversity gives us strength and promotes equity for all. Our learning environment is based on high expectations and clear standards. Families, school, and community work together to benefit all children which fosters respect for one another.

We embrace a rapidly changing world and look to our community and district for support. Students are provided the tools and strategies to become self-sufficient and technologically proficient, accessing information from all over the world. Students are motivated to meet high academic standards, which include art, drama, and physical fitness. Students appreciate all cultures and languages and do not take note of individuals’ economic status.

We look forward to the future with hope and confidence.
