We really do. The proof is that, over a year ago, we chose a Pocoyó video in Spanish, El Baile de Pocoyó, as our very first Video of the Week. I can still remember the dancing parties my girl, husband and I would have in the living room when Pocoyó came on (We record it from Discovery Familia. You can also watch him on YouTube.)
That´s why I accepted the offer to receive a collection of Pocoyó books to review even if they were not in Spanish. As you know, we review mostly only books in Spanish or bilingual. But, it´s Pocoyó! And, he´s just universal and entertaining and educational in any language. Plus, the books, which are meant for children ages 0-3, are so simple and lively that it´s been easy for me to simultaneously translate in Spanish as we read them together.
The Pocoyó book series include 17 books that come as board and paper books and really fun Lift-the-Flaps. I received a copy of “Pocoyó Party Time”, “Pocoyó Discovers Opposites,” “Pocoyó Ready, Steady, Go” and “Pocoyó Story Time.” By far, Camila´s favorite has been Pocoyó Ready, Steady, Go, a Lift-the-Flaps in which Pocoyó races Ellie the pink elephant to the finish line, with many fun mishaps along the way.

We love Pocoyo because of his hilarious friends, especially Pato! Our favorite episode is “Fuera de Control,” where Pato flies through the air like a missile. Cracks me up every time!

My son starts watching Pocoyo and in a little while, not just he but also the entire extended family of all ages are gathered around the tv, entranced.
Pocoyo is funny in a way that both kids and adults can appreciate! The narrator’s dry sense of humor always cracks me up.

We love Pocoyo because he’s upbeat and silly — and for the most part (we watch in English every now and then) — reinforces my 2 years old’s Spanish and teaches her some Spanish (from Spain) that she doesn’t otherwise hear around our house. It’s not just Pocoyo, though. His friends are important. My daughter sings the “Las galletas de Elly” song alllll the time!
This was an introduction to me. I loved the songs and found myself searching for more Pocoyo. I’m making my Mother’s Day requests to get Spanish books to read with my kiddos and I am adding Pocoyo to my list. Gracias.
