Like our niños many of us are fans of Elmo, the not-so-monstrous Sesame Street monster. He’s definitely won us over with his friendly voice, and a laugh that we could recognize anywhere. But how many of us know who is behind the voice? Some of you might recall when Elmo spoke to SpanglishBaby en Español… un poquito; well, now we will get to meet Elmo’s puppeteer and creator, Kevin Clash. The award-winning documentary, Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey is premiering on Thursday, April 5 at 9pm on PBS, followed by an encore presentation on Monday, April 9th at 9 pm.
The documentary will take us through Kevin’s inspirational journey. As a kid growing up in Baltimore Kevin dreamed of becoming a puppeteer and working with his idol, Jim Henson. Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey shows us how Kevin realized his dreams, and became the creator of the iconic Elmo.
