It’s here! Take a tour around the world with Putumayo’s new Latin Beat album. This album features latin music that ranges from Salsa and R&B to Latin Pop; by artists based anywhere from the US, Cuba, and Colombia, to even New Zealand. In other words, it brings a variety of musical cultures together for a good time.
Some of the artists that this album features are Moneda Dura adding the voice of Buena Vista Social Club legend Ibrahim Ferrer, Colombian’s Jontre and Mariposa Solar, and Spain’s Digitano.
This is truly feel good music that can get a party going. How could it not when there are hints of modern beats and a whole lot of tradition that blend to make great music for all generations and tastes. Kids will love the upbeat music and want to dance along, and grandparents will appreciate the traditional rhythms. Not to mention all that Spanish that just rolls off the tongue when singing along to this album. This CD presents another great way to incorporate language fun into our everyday routines.

My favorite type of Latin music is salsa, but we listen to all kinds of Latin beats because it is my son’s favorite type of music. He is 18 months, and we always have Latin jazz or something like that on in the car because it’s the only thing that keeps him content in the car seat. His grandma even got him a set of maracas so that he could play along with the music! He likes when I sing along too, so it’s great practice for his Spanish comprehension.

I’d say my favorite is salsa, mostly because I’ve taken salsa dancing lessons with my husband and, while I’m not any good, can still do the basic steps. I like to dance with my little 5 month old, too!

Merengue…love the fast rhythm.
My fave latin rhythm shifts from month to month, but currently loving son and more contemporary bachatas! Juan Gabriel and Prince Royce…
My favorite latin music is reggaeton. I really love Pitbull and Tony Dize and lots of others. Sometimes I listen to salsa and bachata too. I got the Putumayo Afro-cuban cd from the library and I highly reccommend it.
I like salsa and reggeaton and Sergio Mendes’ music the most. Listening to it just makes you want to dance, even if you don’t have any rhythm, the beat and the energy makes you feel like you can:)
