Today is the first day of a week-long adventure into the ins and outs of bilingual homeschooling. One of the major components of homeschooling, and probably the most difficult to achieve when incorporating bilingualism, is to find educational toys and products to teach children a language through what they do best-play.
Ingenio, the first bilingual and educational toy brand in the U.S., has a catalog of 10 toys and games that are meant for preschool and early elementary children. Last year we reviewed every single one of their toys to celebrate their launch. You can find our detailed review of each one of their products here.
What we found makes Ingenio toys and games special for our bilingual children is that they are:
- educational
- affordable
- high quality
- entertaining
These are toys that would fit right in place in any bilingual or early language classroom and would be ideal in a bilingual homeschooling environment. From puzzles, to learning cards, to the very original crossword blocks game, to the much-coveted Smart Projector there’s a bilingual game that can be adapted to any curriculum.

My favorite is the Notebook. No! The Smart Projector. No! The Notebook. I really want to focus harder on Spanish with my daughter and this would be a great tool for increasing her vocabulary.
Mwauh! Gracias, Chicas!

It’s muy dificil to pick a favorite, they’re all so great. I guess it would be the crossword blocks because those can be used for various age groups. We could easily incorporate all of the products into our classroom learning times as we learn math, reading, spelling, etc. and they would also make their way into the play areas throughout the home. I can also see how the learning cards and especially the notebook would accompany us on roadtrips too!

I really liked the spellable educational game and the alphabet learning cards!

It’s hard to choose. They all look like so much fun! I’d have to say the puzzle of North America though. My son is an explorer at heart and loves to use maps to learn about other places, people and cultures (and to dream up future travels). We’d definitley use these toys/tools to strengthen the connection between our son here in the US and our familia in Mexico. Great stuff!
We already follow you onTwitter, but we just retweeted this!

My favorite is the opposites learning cards. I’m a high-school teacher and mom of a 1-year-old doing 1-parent/1-language with my bilingual bebita (her 1st and 2nd word were ‘hola’ and ‘bye-bye’!). Next year I’m adding the equivalent of one class period so I’ll be teaching 11th and 12th grade as usual–and KINDERGARTEN!! As I take on the elementary discovery time I’ll be a “traveling” teacher going to their classroom and the learning cards are just what I need to take to their classroom to sit on the floor and interact with them for 20 minutes. I really need to win this! Love y’all SpanglishBaby

I love the looks of all of them, but my kids would probably love the notebook the best. I love the one that allows you to spell out words. I’ve got a very tactile learner and he is going to need to hold each letter in his hand.
I like the OPPOSITES LEARNING CARDS. This is a compact shape and can be held in the child’s hands. I can just imagine this being kept in the car to be used as not only a toy but also a conversation starter (¿Que ves tú que está cerca? ¿Ves algo que está lejos?) and the carrying handle means we could easily take our game right into the grocery store.
I think the Notebook would be fantastic for my son! He’s always asking me how to say different words/phrases in Spanish, and I know he would love using this, especially on car rides! I am also a high school Spanish teacher, and I think the opposites cards would work well for my junior high students just beginning the language.
I will not be entering, and I just want to say what a great week full of resources this will be for all! (And winning prizes makes it even more fun!) Thank you / gracias to Ana and Roxana for this community of sharing and learning!

I would say the Spellable – It is the way I am teaching my toddller but it is hard to make my own-
My First Notebook love it is portable – !
The learning cards – mi bb estaria feliz jugando con ellas y ensenandole a sus munecas
All of them look really good, but knowing my two little ones I should go for the Notebook and the Learning Cards: those would surely catch their attention and that -I believe- is the first step towards learning something new…
Great site!
I’ve also subscribed to the newsletter.
Thanks!
I absolutely LOVE the Smart Projector and would hope that it would be my son’s favorite as well. He is behind in his fine motor skills and is receiving OT/PT for this, but it’s always a bit of a stuggle to get him to his therapy at home – much of which is coloring, drawing, writing. I think this unique product would make it fun and interesting for him to work on his fine motor skills.
All the products are great! I think my son would also enjoy the novelty of the opposites cards which I would definitely keep in the car (along with the alphabet cards) to play with him while daddy drives. I’d probably keep the notebook in the car also for him to play with when I’m driving. The learning puzzles – great to play with together or for quiet time alone. The educational games seem very interactive and perhaps the most fun of all.
What’s most impressive is that all this LEARNING would feel just like PLAYING to my son – and in two languages – FANTASTICO!!!
Gracias,
Heather

I would love the map. It has our home, the US, and the countries my husband and I come from: Mexico and The Dominican Republic. I definitely see myself doing geography with my 6 year old and this puzzle map. I could also use the projector to keep my 3 year old busy while I teach my 6 year old. And the opposites cards and spelling game are good for when we’re doing Spanish. They all seem great.
I get your emails.
My favorite right now are the Alphabet Learning Cards as we are working on the Alphabet with our daughter. I will be doing a homeschool curriculum with her next year and every single one of these products would be well used in our schooling. Yes, she is young (3), but it’s never too early to start and she has a desire for school so I am going for it.

All their products are great! Such an asset for my two little bilingual homeschoolers. The educational games and learning puzzles are engaging, hands-on-activities are great for exploring. The projector is perfect for learning and writing letters/ABC’s. The notebook, learning cards ……. it is hard to choose a favorite. Thank you for this giveaway!

They all look great but I think my DD would really like the Smart Projector. She likes all things art and all things tech so it seems like a good fit. I would be able to utilize all these fun items in our curriculum to help make learning a second language fun. My kids learn best when things are fun and engaging and these products would really fit the bill!

What great toys! I’d have to say my favorite is My First Notebook, although the Opposites Learning Cards look like they’d be a close second!
Just subscribed via e-mail – I’m so excited to have found this website!
My fav is the Crossword Blocks. We won these from you last year and our 21 month old loves them. He isn’t old enough to spell out words yet, but the blocks themselves have helped us teach him many of the Spanish words we instill in our everyday speech. Thanks! thebubbledies(at)gmail(dot)com

My favorite is My First Notebook. I want to teach my daughter some Spanish, but I know my accent could be better, so anything with audio is a big help.

I like the animal puzzle. I’d use these toys with both of my children, ages 2, and nearly 5. They’ve been learning with Boca Beth already, and these would be a nice extension to that.
Wow, these products are great! I have three homeschooled children. My youngest is two. My favorite is the crossword puzzle blocks. Those look awesome. I’d definitely put the products to good use in our homeschool, especially with my little one. She is such a sponge absorbing language and learning. For her I think the learning cards and puzzle blocks would be a big win. I can see the projector and puzzles being a big hit with my older children and I appreciate the learning that could take place cross-curricular with the spellable and math-o-matic games. Too cool! Thanks for the generous giveaway! I’d love a chance to win.
I will use the Alphabet Learning Cards during circle time in my preschool classroom.
spellable puzzle looks so fun and it would be perfect for my daughter learning how to read in Spanish

My favorite is the Spellable Educational Game. I have a new daughter that my husband and I want to introduce Spanish to at a very young age as well as a 6 year old son who would also benefit from learning Spanish by playing along with these games.

It’s a hard choice, but I think the notebook looks really cool.
My favorite is the My First Notebook interactive bilingual toy. I would put all these to good use with both of my kids. One will be starting Kindergarten and taking Beginning Spanish, the other will be in First Grade and continuing his Beginners Spanish. These would make fantastic learning tools for them.
The Math-O-Matic is my favorite game and I would use it in my home to improve my son’s math skills!
