Thanks to the people at Hewlett-Packard and Intel, I am typing this on a brand new HP Pavilion dv6 with 2nd generation Intel Core i3 Processor. This is actually my second HP laptop. My first one served me very well for many years, but the technology of these newer generation computers is incomparable!
The 2nd generation Intel Core i3 Processor keeps this laptop running smoothly no matter what I’m doing, which is typically a dozen things at once. You see, the processor is the “brains” of the computer and quicker processing translates to seamless multi-tasking, faster loading, and clear videos and graphics.
My very favorite thing about this laptop is the keyboard. I don’t think I’ve ever typed on a keyboard this comfortable. The keys have a very nice texture, just the right amount of resistance and the touchpad isn’t too touchy like many other laptops I’ve tried. I’ve been using this computer for 3 days now, and not once have I accidentally activated the touchpad.
Speaking of the keyboard – Do you know how to easily type accented characters in Spanish? All you have to do is hold down the ALT key while typing a number. Here are the codes you need!
á = 160
é = 130
í = 161
ó = 162
ú = 163
ñ = 164
¿ = 168
¡ = 173
(You can print those out until you get them memorized!)
Stay tuned because next week we’ll be telling you all the great ways students can make use of the HP Pavilion dv6, and how you could win one! Not a giveaway you want to miss, so make sure you’re subscribed to receive our posts via an RSS Feed or email.
Disclosure: SpanglishBaby received an HP Pavilion dv6 for review to facilitate this post. As always, all opinions are our own.
Yay! for you Tracy!
I’m enjoying my new laptop these days as well (I’m a Mac , so completely feel you when you say “faster loading”….
sounds like it will be a great giveaway!!!
It is an awesome giveaway! I’m excited for whoever gets to win this.
I remember back when I had dial-up on an old computer that was really slow, partly due to how much stuff we had on it. I don’t think I have that kind of patience anymore. LOL.
For me this is an easier way to have the keyboard in Spanish:
Click on START, choose CONTROL PANEL,
choose DATE TIME LANGUAGE AND REGIONAL OPTIONS
Choose at the verry bottom REGIONAL AND LANGUAGE
OPTIONS
Go to LANGUAGESTab, click on DETAILS
Click on ADD button
On the KEYBOARD LATOUT field select LATIN AMERICA
Then click LANGUAGE BAR (at the bottom) and select
SHOW THE LANGUAGE BAR ON
THE TASK BAR.
Select all the OK remaining
That will activate tha language selection option in
the task bar (will show
EN for english ans ES for Spanish)
Click on the language selection option ( EN or ES)
to swtich keyboard
layout.
Awesome giveaway.!
For anyone who might be having trouble with this, using the Alt-key shortcuts to produce Spanish characters only works if you use the numbers from the numeric keypad, not the numbers from the top row of the keyboard.
And this is a great giveaway!
