So we’ve come to the end of our trilingual adventures with Little Pim. For the last three months, I’ve been documenting my daughter’s progress learning her third language through progress report posts and vlogs featuring Skype consultations with Little Pim’s founder, Julia Pimsleur Levine. It has been a grand journey and I couldn’t be happier that we got started with Little Pim’s products because they’ve really made it fun and easy to do.
If you’ve been following this journey, you know I’ve also been very proud of my daughter’s progress and her genuine love for languages. Today, I bring you the last of our awesome consultations with Julia. These monthly conversations have been truly helpful and encouraging. And, as Julia has mentioned in the past, our own adventures have even inspired her to introduce new ways of exposing her own children to French. So, it has been a win-win situation for all!
While this will be our last entry in our trilingual adventures with Little Pim series, I obviously have plans of continuing this journey with my daughter, Vanessa, and with her little brother, Santiago, who has been lucky enough to get a pretty early exposure to the language. In fact, I think he’s listened to a lot more French than English in the last several months!
So, I’ve been looking to the future and I’ve been thinking about ways I’ll be keeping up with our household’s third language. Fortunately, Julia has a lot of tips including the description of one of their products with which I bet not all parents are familiar.
Finally ,and as we promised at the start, to celebrate this incredible journey – which is only the beginning for my family – we bring you a fantastic giveaway. Make sure you watch the video so you can answer the question below for your chance to enter the giveaway.

That’s really neat! I didn’t know that you could teach reading and writing in a second language without interfering with the learning in the first language. I’ll definitely have to implement that with my kids!
Please enter me in the drawing for the Little Pim giveaway!
I subscribe to your feed via email, and would like to be entered a second time in the Little Pim Giveaway drawing. It’d be so great to get it in Arabic, as we will be moving to the Middle East in August.
I learned that play-dates with other kids who are learning the target language can be a MAJOR factor in influencing a positive attitude toward language learning.
I get your RSS feed via Google Reader.
I tweeted the giveaway, too! This would be a fantastic resource!
I was reminded of the importance of play groups and getting peer influence in encouraging your children to continue language learning, but I also thought it was great how she said that you can start your kids writing in their second language at the same time that they’re learning their first. It seems like so many people think it will interfere with their first language learning, so they wait.

I learned that we may go thru a period in which our child doesn’t want to speak the language, but to not give up! No matter what! It is just a phase!

That’s so true “don’t give up” and also the kids need to spend more time with kids learning the same language or speaking the same language but to make it fun for them. I like that the teachers set it comes with the DVD, the panda and the guide.

It has reiforced me how important it is for my daughters to be around other people that speak the minority language. We always try but it’s good to hear from an expert.

I learned about the importance of being persistent (not giving up), the importance of your child having access to peers who are learning the language too…. and finally the importance of exposing them to reading and writing in the ‘new’ language!
learned that you shouldn’t get discouraged if your kid isn’t interested in learning the language

I enjoyed the video. It was interesting to hear the tips for helping your child learning. Being around others that speak or are learning the language too. Also I didn’t realize there was a teacher’s set. I’ve seen the DVDs too but the helps sound great too.
Thanks!
I signed up for the email updates.
I can’t wait for Sabrina to start talking!! How fun!
I learned about Little Pim’s educators guides which have been used by homeschoolers. This sounds really cool.

It was a great interview. I learned a few things, don’t get discouraged if your child goes through a phase where he does not want to speak a different language; encouraging play dates with children who have similar interests in learning a new language fosters learning; implementing reading and writing in a second language does not interfere with the native language, even as early as age 5 and there are availabe kits to use at home.

I appreciated the encouragement/reminder to be persistent through childrens’ phases of interest. I also learned that there is a teachers kit to go with Little Pim. Excellent!

I didn’t realize that you could have the children begin to read and write in the additional languages simultaneously. I just started homeschooling with my just turned 5 year old and can definitely start implementing this!
please add me to the giveaway~!
I subscribed to the feed via email. Can’t wait to know about the giveaway!
She gave great advice about not giving up; I was relieved to hear that it’s normal for kids also go in and out of phases of not wanting to learn a second language. I also plan to check out the teacher’s kit.
I re-subscribed to the email feed. I realized that I hadn’t gotten any emails. Looking forward to the updates in my inbox.
