East Point Academy is a public school that is part of the state’s public school system but is classified as a charter school because it is allowed to set critical achievement standards at or above existing public schools. East Point Academy is a small learning community, starting with approximately 120 students in grades 4 year-old pre-school*, Kindergarten**, First and Second grades. One grade level will be added each year. Personalized learning through small classes, bilingual language instruction in English and Chinese by certified teachers, civic engagement, cultural and social awareness activities, and parental involvement will give students the personal attention and extra help they need to succeed in the classroom and in society. All students will benefit from a rigorous, innovative, and learner-centered curriculum, including inquiry-based instruction to acquire, organize, and communicate information and to solve problems.
