We’ve shared with you before how PBS is embracing bilingualism with their show Oh Noah. For their second season they added even more bilingual fun to their site. Today Oh Noah or Noah Comprende continues to be a fun bilingual resource for kids. Check out the website here.

Sid The Science Kid/ Sid El Niño Científico

Sid The Science Kid is an educational animated series that promotes science readiness in preschool-age kids. Sid uses music and humor that celebrates a child’s natural curiosity. Check out the Spanish website here.

Curious George In Spanish

We all know the lovable Curious George, and we celebrated when PBS made Curious George games available in Spanish. So head on over to the Curious George “juegos” page and enjoy with your niños.

Maya and Miguel

Maya and Miguel features two ten-year-old twins and the many adventures they find themselves in. They live in a diverse neighborhood where their familia and amigos are often part of the crazy situations Maya and Miguel are in. You can find Spanish activities and games at the Maya and Miguel site.

PBS Parents

PBS Parents is an online resource for parents where you can find everything from child development information, education, games, and birthday parties information just to name a few. This page is available in both Spanish and English. Check it out here.

PBS Kids Lab In Spanish

You can find plenty of Spanish games and activities featuring your niños favorite PBS characters in Spanish at the Kids Lab!

Sesame Street

- As we all know Plaza Sésamo is the Spanish version of Sesame Street with an addition of original and lovable Spanish-speaking characters. The show airs on Vme and you can check out their Spanish website for games and tips for parents here.

My girl and I enjoyed our family visit to the Universal Orlando Resort so much last year, that we went back for more a few weeks ago during our trip to Florida. We´re so thankful we got to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel since Camila´s favorite water slide is there and it was a tough time getting her out of the pool! We were able to convince her by reminding her how much fun she had at Dr. Seuss´Landing at Islands of Adventures and at the Curious George water play area in Universal Studios. Not only that, but we got to check out the brand new Blue Man Group show and had even more of a blast this time.

What we didn´t get to do because we were there just a week too early is to check out the two brand new entertainment experiences Universal Orlando Resort just launched - Universal’s Superstar Parade and Universal’s Cinematic Spectacular.

It’s great to see the look on our niños faces when they get to meet their favorite animated characters in person, and they get to do just that when they visit Universal. The parade happens daily and features Dora, Diego, Boots and Baby Jaguar,  Spongebob and his Bikini Bottom friends, and characters from HOP and Despicable Me! During the day guests get to meet and take pictures will all the before mentioned characters.

We also missed out on getting to experience Universal’s Cinematic Spectacular – 100 Years of Movie Memories. This all new lagoon show, also at Universal Studios, features a collection of the best moments from iconic Universal pictures movies, which are all projected onto huge waterfall screens in an awe-inspiring show.

Growing up, Spanish was my native tongue and I was learning English at a bilingual school and during trips to Houston to visit my dad.  For some reason, I always preferred reading in English. I clearly remember spending hours reading and reading the classic Curious George book. There was no TV show or George movies back then, he only existed as an illustration by H.A.  and Margret Ray.

Over 30 years later, my daughter is now also a Curious George fan, but, not only can she see him in a book, she can now interact with him and watch him come alive on the screen on thanks to WGBH and PBS KIDS GO!

Our favorite mono is now celebrating Latina moms and our heritage with a special episode airing this Friday, May 6th called “Mother’s Day Surprise.” In this episode we get to see George and his Latino friend Marco learn how to make a piñata, or as close as they can get to one, to celebrate Marco´s mami. My daughter was actually surprised when she saw the show and heard Marco say “Mami.” She turned to me with a proud smile and said: “¡Dijo Mami!” That right there proved to me how well she can already separate both languages at 3 years of age and how proud she is of speaking español.

“This Mother’s Day, we’ll continue Season 5’s exploration of the social sciences by showing kids how Marco and his family celebrate El Dia de la Madre,” says WGBH Executive Producer Dorothea Gillim.  “We hope that through George’s adventures, kids will be inspired to explore their own family’s customs.”
