One of the things I love about living in Los Angeles are the incredibly fun options we have to choose from every single weekend. Really, in how many cities do you have weekends when you can choose between ir a la playa o a la nieve, and both are just a short car trip away?

This last weekend was one of those. I had just finally started to feel better after spending a whole week in bed with that flu, or something that totally felt like it, and all I wanted was to get outdoors and spend real time with my girl. So Saturday morning I got up with renewed energy and was happy to be able to take my daughter to her swimming lessons at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center in Pasadena. It was such a gorgeous and warm day and I soaked up all the vitamin D I could while my girl had a blast in her class.

Here she is after swim lessons sucking on a healthy snack of Peter Rabbit Organics, made with organic fruit and veggie blends. Even at age 5, she loves gulping on the squeezy pouches and I love that they are easy to carry, always handy, 100% healthy with no added sugar or salt, pretty much mess-free and that they come in so many flavors that hit the perfect craving spot all the time.

The next day was just as sunny and gorgeous, but we knew there was still snow on the mountains because it had been so cold during the last few weeks. Last year we never got a chance to head up to the mountains for some snow play and Camila kept reminding us about the fact. So we headed up to Mt. Baldy, just a short one-hour drive away, for some snow tubing with friends. We packed a lunch and some snacks and the first thing Camila asked for as soon as she stopped for a much-needed rest after so much snow fun was a squeezy pouch from Peter Rabbit Organics. Just check her out!

As you can tell from our last weekend and if you follow me on Instagram, we do live a pretty active life and are always heading out for some kind of adventure on the weekends. Since I’m not the best at packing lunches and snacks, I’ve now made a note to make sure I stock up on Peter Rabbit Organics on my next visit to Walmart. With six fruit snacks and five veggie blends to choose from, I’m sure we’ll have enough variety to keep Camila excited for a while.

If there’s one staple food in my house it would have to be avocados from Mexico. Seriously, I kid you not that we eat at least one or two avocados every single day. In fact, it was one of my girl’s first foods and still one she will hardly ever refuse. Of course, it warms my heart because avocados are so rich in nutrients and at age 5 she’s such a picky eater that anything healthy and nutritious she’ll take will be served by me!

My girl isn’t the only one that will devour an avocado. It’s my go-to food when I need something quick and yummy — which is always! The other day I opened my fridge and found avocados, naan bread, arugula and gouda cheese staring at me, so I came up with this delicious treat. I instantly snapped a picture, put it up on my Instagram and got so many replies and Likes that I decided to share it here! The best Like was from mi marido who now requests it! Score!

Ingredients for an Avocado Naan

1 avocado from Mexico

1 naan bread (sold either frozen or fresh)

A handful of fresh arugula

Gouda cheese (or whichever cheese you prefer), sliced to top the naan

Sea salt to taste

Extra virgin olive oil to taste

Directions

Slightly toast or warm the naan bread so it’s still soft, yet warm. Slice the avocado and spread all over the naan. Add slices of gouda cheese to cover the naan and then top with the arugula. Drizzle olive oil and shake salt all over.

That’s it! Bite into it and enjoy the simplicity of this delicious and nutritious treat!

Share in the comments, what’s your favorite way to eat an avocado?
