I am so happy I found this wonderful and inspiring group of Los Angeles parents that have gotten together to create a space to enhance the Spanish-language opportunities from children-toddlers to middle school age.

They meet every Sunday during the school year in an elementary school in Pasadena.  I met the two amazing teacher that are completely devoted to the children.

I highly recommend this as an option to immerse your children in Spanish and for them to make a beautiful group of friends (so will you!).

I´m pretty sure Camila will start this fall!!

We´ll actually write more about this and other heritage schools in the next month.

Click here to go to their website and get more info.

This is amazing. I've been somewhat considering doing something like that out here in the Inland Empire and have been looking for grants to get it started. Is it free? We need more community based groups where all children are able to have access to low-cost or free community-based services in order to build biliteracy. Kiss

It´s not free, but it´s very, very affordable.  They need to pay for the teachers and materials.  What I loved about it was the community feeling since all the parents were there with the children in the classroom.  Everyone´s really involved and looking out for their bilingual futures.

I actually passed on your blog to the group´s contact:  Rey Rodriguez.  He´s an amazing man who wants to reach out and do more for bilingual education but it´s not his area of specialty.  I´ll be happy to hook you two up, that´s if  you haven´t already!

Thanks! I will be happy to assist with anything. I bet there are opportunities possibly to find grant funding for something like that in some way. I'm sure it would be easy to get something like books, etc through grants. Well, not easy per se , but possible.

The LA Times published a great article about Grupo Educa and preserving our language and heritage.  You can read it here:  http://www.latimes.com/news/lo…..umn?page=1
