Our son always calls it “pinpon”; we say “chupon” and he usually only used it when falling asleep, and we so often sing him “Pinpon” when he’s going to sleep, that he connected them in his mind. He also baby-pronounced Cobija as “juja”. He left off the pacifier quite some time ago but still when we are in the car more than a few minutes, he starts to feel sleepy and says “Quiero juja pinpon Mami”. By now, he can and does say cobija correctly in another context, and never even really cried for the lost pacifier but this still continues to be his way of saying, I’m tired. Isn’t it amazing how important these objects of comfort are? My mom told me when I was little the doctors all said babies should not have these things past 3 months old. How sad…
