Opposites Learning Cards

I‘ve gotta say it:  Qué ingeniosos los de Ingenio! There.  By now you’ve learned about several of their products and you probably already agree with me.  I had a hard time choosing which products I would receive to review because my daughter is only two years old and most of their toys and games are for the 3+ gang.  Roxana figured Camila was ready to learn her opposites and that these bilingual learning cards could be a fun way toRead More ...

I can almost hear my precious laptop breathing a sigh of relief.  No more sticky fingers and tiny hands banging on it, at least, we hope.  My toddler now feels empowered and less left-out when mamá sits in front of the computer because she has her own little laptop to carry around. This song is called “Ricas Frutas” and features Mexcian signer Aleks Syntek along with Pancho, Abelardo, and Lola from Plaza Sésamo. ¡Qué lo disfruten! PlazaRead More ...

Lately we’ve been writing much about how reading to and with your children is one of the most effective ways to enhance their overall language and cultural skills, but especially about how beneficial it as an activity to promote second language learning in a fun way. Surely, your child has a book she’s especially fond of and loves to be read over and over (and over) again.  She loves to hear how you imitate the sounds of the animals, howRead More ...

A Piñata Story

Posted by: | 11 Comments

I grew up in El Salvador going to Piñatas, not fiestas de cumpleaños, but Piñatas. If you guessed that the smacking of the hanging toy was the main attraction, you’re right. The thing is I don’t remember ever having fun when it was my turn to grab the stick and hit the swinging piñata. I never felt tall enough, strong enough, or maybe I simply was never interested enough. I was reminded about this feeling of childhood inadequacy last weekRead More ...
