Let's play piñata!

Creativity, culture, imagination and fun all in one little kit. I wished I would have found these make-your-own-piñata kits when my girl turned two.  Since she´s terrified of basically all types of piñatas after she witnessed the destruction of a Dora-shaped one, this one would have been a perfect way to involve her in the process and maybe that way she would have been more receptive to the idea. We could have picked the shape she wanted from the elephant,Read More ...

Video of the Week::Ice Age 3

When we watch movies at home with our girl, we have one rule:  movies in Spanish.  I´m always looking for DVDs that offer the Spanish language track and I especially love those that invest in hiring great and recognizable Latin American actors to dub the voices.  A lot of the times the Spanish version is even funnier than the original! Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs is one of those films. The Spanish version contains an all-star cast that includesRead More ...

Playful language learning online

Go Go Lingo is a new on-line language game that uses animated games and a fun “playful immersion method” toRead More ...

Jose Luis Orozco::Preserving our Hispanic Heritage through Music + Songs

Hispanic Heritage Month was created to honor the many contributions made by Latinos in our country.  It was a no-brainer, then, for us to recognize José Luis Orozco, a man who for 39 years now has been relentlessly focused on preserving our rich cultural identity through songs and music for children, while at the same time exposing a wider audience to the heritage of the Spanish-speaking world. His name is very familiar and well-respected amongs educators, especially with bilingual (Spanish/English)Read More ...

Dora says: ¡Vamos a Bailar!

Posted by: | 175 Comments

My girl’s favorite phrase lately (said in a very dictator-like tone) is “¡A bailar!”  She manages to get us all dancing on cue and on the spot.  So you can imagine her bliss when she opened the huge Fisher Price box to discover her sorpresa:  a brand new Dance With Me Dora!  Her glee turned into euphoria as soon as she pressed the crystal on Dora’s necklace and the first words out of the doll’s mouth were “¡Vamos a bailar!”Read More ...
