Its a good idea of starting a immersion program to interact with the parents. Yes, every parent is having the same doubts and fears what you have. Every children is having their own capabilities to read and learn some will learn soon and for other it takes time to learn the same. And about homework kids should do their homework by their own so that it becomes a habit to do it everyday that is really helpful for them to learn things by their own. Thank you for posting this! I have linked this on our school’s blog (arcoirisschool.wordpress.com) as well. We get these questions often. Our experience this year with our first graders is that they are growing their reading skills in both languages exponentially. It is an exciting time for everyone. But I do believe that “Immersion programs require a leap-of-faith on the part of parents” is spot on!
