I learned English as a second language as a teenager, I was around 15 years old, and my best practical lessons came from watching TV and listening to music in English. I didn’t understand everything at once, but slowly things were sinking in.

Reading in Spanish will be beneficial too. I used to read magazines and newspapers in English before knowing the language and it helped to put things together. Words that I wasn’t understanding when spoken, I was able to understand it when read.
