Bilingual is Better

The absolute speed of hockey can occasionally make it difficult to pinpoint the best players in the NHL but when those players heat up and start scoring points at will, or cool and have hauled off the scoresheet, they influence the game in a very concrete way and that in turn impacts bettors and their gains.
In the last few weeks, there have been over just a few examples of this and I have recognized a list of players whose cold or hot streaks have been leading to good, bad or ugly consequences for their respective teams.
Johnny HockeyJohnny Gaudreau had a rough start to his year and has been forced to miss half of October with a broken finger but that’s all behind him now. The 5’9″ left-winger currently has nine points in his last seven games where his team, the Calgary Flames, are undefeated. During that streak, the Flames are also 5-2 on the puckline and have moved within striking distance of the Ducks and Oilers in the Pacific Division.
The prior 104th overall draft pick has been a catalyst for Calgary’s success ever since he entered the league in 2013 and also the path to victory will continue to run through his and Sean Monahan’s growth.
Nashville Predators’ Top LineScoring a combined 32 points in their last seven games, the line of Victor Arvidsson, Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg is the most popular in baseball. Nashville has posted 12 OVERs in its last 13 games and it’s the Preds’ very first line that bettors need to thank for this particular trend. Forsberg is known for his incredible second halves so as long as books keep assigning Nashville levels of 5.5, you can keep betting the OVER.
The Preds have averaged 4.38 goals scored over the course of their past eight matches and through a series of 11 straight OVERs that recently stopped, their games were averaging a total of eight percent contest.
Captain Serious and the KanerThese men are on complete fire at this time with 42 joint points because the beginning of February and it has contributed to the Blackhawks winning 12 of the past 13 matches and all of their last seven. It’s arguable that no two forwards are more important to a team’s overall success than Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews and this season has only helped affirm that. Earlier in the year, when Captain Serious was in a dry spell, the’Hawks went 4-9 SU in games where Toews did not register a point during a 25-game stretch and 8-4 SU in games he did. It is true that he impacts the game in many places other than the scoresheet but it’s clear the’Hawks are better when Toews makes an impact at the end.
It’s also of note that over the duration of their past 13 matches, the Blackhawks have submitted 10 OVERs in part thanks to the donations made by Toews and Kane.
Vlad-dad Getting Sad-VladOn the opposite end of this spectrum, we have the Russian sniper Vladimir Tarasenko. He has found the back of the internet just one time at the Blues’ last six games also, coincidentally enough, the Notes are 1-5 SU in those tilts. Tara is St. Louis’ most proficient player by far and when he slacks off, so will the team’s production. This could only be a coincidence but since the Blues dealt Kevin Shattenkirk to the Capitals, Tarasenko has gotten two shots on net in over 37 minutes of ice time. His present five-game pointless streak matches the longest of his career, therefore I expect him to get the ship turned around soon with the Blues in a tight playoff race. St. Louis has been streaky all year so if you’re a believer in tendencies, it may be time for you to hop on the Notes.
