If Japan 2019 is providing the stage, which players will step from the chorus line to be the protagonists?
Who will be the headline-makers-to-be, the bolters, the shooting stars?
Chris Ashton and Danny Care, together with 128 England caps between them, could readily have been competing for the decoration functions.
Instead though they will be analysing the tournament as a portion of their Rugby Union Weekly team.
With Chris selecting Danny and a trio of wings, the group have picked out six players to watch, before the significant kick-off.
First, the gas retailers out broad…
Chris Ashton:”I performed him Toulon in France and that he was a person I went to every match.
“I knew with his off-loading match I would constantly get the ball back off him and have a chance to score. I would move inside him and wait patiently for him to bump away three lads and then allow me the ball.
“He’s a man mountain. Never have I seen someone with so much muscle strapped with them. Socks would fit him. He needed to cut them away and wear such as tennis socks because he could not get them on his calves”
Danny Care:”He’s up there with my favourite players to see because he’s not your average rugby union player. He’s short, but stacked.
“He’ll be a little Fiji legend Rupeni Caucaunibuca straight back into the afternoon. He only gets the ball, causes carnage and likes to hurt people”
CA:”Once I was the time of playing against him, I ended up getting the nickname,’Mike Catt’. I was run over by him around four occasions like Jonah Lomu didn’t Catt in the 1995 Rugby World Cup.
“He could run round you, over you, hand you off, chip it although your legs, you just don’t know what is coming.
“He’s awakened the Top 14 playing Clermont and France have already been using him in all the ideal places. It is likely to be great to see him move in international rugby.
“I think he’s going to place this World Cup alight.”
DC:”He was on fire against Saracens a year or two ago, scoring a hat-trick, and talking to Jamie George afterwards he said that they hadn’t ever undergone a player like it. They just couldn’t get hold of him”
CA:”He’s been England’s best finisher for a excellent few years now. Head coach Eddie Jones really likes him.
“He’s played loads in the warm-up games, however you can see he is really enthusiastic and had lots of energy to acquire in the match.
“His aerial skills are excellent. He regains back than that he loses and that is an invaluable asset for the way that England would like to play with the game.
“Jonny is a go-to guy to Eddie Jones, who has set him in some of the leadership groups. I really don’t know how comfortable Jonny is using that type of thing though!”
DC:”It is mad to think about the way he is in these direction encounters when we know how weird he is!
“We had a trip in Argentina two years back using England and we decided that any bit of kit left around will go to auction on the bus. He enjoys his electronic watch that is basic and it came for auction.
“He paid 200 to get it back the first time, then #250 on the next time. We took #450 him off to get a watch which was probably worth #20.”
And now Danny’s pick of the number nines…
DC:”This 22-year-old has altered the way that France are still playing. He backs himselfhe is seriously quick, he is powerful, he likes to score tries. I think if the French are to surprise people in this particular tournament he’s a large part to playwith.
“I believe he’s a potential participant of the championship. He’s special.”
CA:”I came along with him several times when I had been playing with in France and he is deceptively strong for his height.
“If he’s captured, he usually manages to get an offload off to keep his team going forward. I’m happy to observe that the French placing some hope in him.”
DC:”For me, Aaron Smith is probably the ideal scrum-half on the planet right now.
“He makes New Zealand sign with his pace, enthusiasm and energy. He is the heartbeat of that side. He’s got the ideal pass in world rugby also. Despite needing very small hands, it is completely fizzed by him. It’s the perfect spiral every time.
“From the loose, he conducts those service lines too to make the extra man and help himself to a reasonable few tries.”
CA:”This pass is hot. What’s yours maybe not that tight Danny?”
DC:”He’s representing the little guys in world rugby, but he rolls well above his weight.
“I love playing him and watching him perform. He likes getting stuck and is really feisty. If South Africa would be to go all the way, he’ll be pivotal.”
CA:”He is the largest ball of energy that I have come around in a while.
“In Salein gym sessions he will cartwheel in, throw a ball at someone’s mind, drop and perform 10 press-ups.
“He is just always up and downday, nonstop. And he and exactly the exact same play. He’s just coming hurrying into the line, shutting forwards.
“He’s an entirely unusual nine and we are very lucky to have him”
