Music is a constant in our bilingual home. My almost 7-year-old daughter has an iPod mini and both kids have CD players in their rooms. We try to expose our kids to all kinds of genres, but since we’re raising them bilingual, we have a nice selection of children’s music in Spanish.
Like most kids, mine love the idea of wearing headphones to listen to music, but my son is still too little for any to fit comfortably without falling out — especially when it comes to my iPhone’s earbuds. Whenever he sees me jamming to a tune, he invariably asks me to take my headphones off so he can get a listen too. So when Walmart asked if I was interested in reviewing a new and revolutionary set of headphones that easily convert into speakers with a flip, I was more than happy to do so.
I must say that the Flips Audio HD Headphones blew me away! Although I think they sound amazing as regular headphones, the best part is that with a simple flip of the ear cups, they become pretty powerful speakers. My kids thought I was the coolest mom when I took them off my ears, flipped the cups and shared my music with them. They approached me immediately and wanted to know all about the Flips.
Now my kids don’t have to fight over who gets to listen to the Spanish children’s music they have in the iPod mini because they can both listen to it regardless of where we are. Luckily, the headphones come in a cool protective case that’s easy and convenient to take anywhere you go.
At first, I thought the speakers were battery-operated, but it turns out they have to be recharged with a USB cable, which means all you need is a USB wall or car adapter.
The Flips Audio HD Headphones are sold exclusively at Walmart for $119.88 and they come in white with a red accent or in black with a green accent, like the ones I got.
