Pura Vida, Cathy! Thank you so much for reaching out. I cannot wait to take both kids to Costa Rica. We took our two year old when he was just twelve weeks old, but we are planning a trip for 2014 when they are your kids' ages. I love thinking that they will be able to community with family. This will be so rewarding to see!! Mmm now you have me thinking about tamales and gallo pinto..

Hi Nikki. Pura vida! I'm also Costa Rican-American and raising my kids bilingual. Loved your story about going to CR for Christmas. We actually took our kids last Christmas and it was a total immersion experience for them. They are only 1 and 3, but the benefits of learning two languages is definitely starting to show. I love that my 3 year-old can communicate with family in CR. She loved eating tamales and gallo pinto and even asked me to write a letter to el Niñito for her.
