She is seven, and she picked out the little girl from Chile who is the same age. We got to talk about a lot of different countries and where they are when we were searching. I hope it opens up her world a bit to think about Alecsa’s life and how it is different from hers economically and culturally. Plus the seasons are flip flopped – so we get to sneak a little science in there too.

We recently sponsored a child from Chile. We get to help a community and famiy, and learn about a new culture. It is fun to think of things to send to her to represent our life in the midwest and to think about things that she would like. I send a letter, my daughter sends a card in spanish, and we add little gifts in a care package. We can’t wait to hear back from her.

This is a great idea! I had pen pals growing up and I loved it. I’ll keep it in mind for when my kids are older!!
