I think any reason is good reason to raise bilingual and bicultural kids. As long as we make it a commitment to doing it, everything is okay!

You're boys are very lucky and you seem to be doing a great job. Congratulations!

Me encanta tu writing style and I'm sooo happy you accepted our invitation to write a guest post. Hope it happens more often.

Ruben: Thank you for sharing! Like Paula, I have a cafe con leche combo - daughter who is 4 and son who is 7, both very bilingual and bicultural. Living la vida bilingue has it's challenges but certainly it's rewards as well. As our family helped out 2 Argentinian tourists last night, they commended us on what a great job we have done raising our children bilingually, I felt very proud. It is awesome to be bilingual and/or bicultural!

I can soooooo relate!!! My oldest (9) is fully bilingual. My youngest (3) understand ALL Spanish but refuses to Speak it :( I still speak to him in Spanish but don't pressure him. I don't want to traumarize him or anything. Hopefully this is only a phase! He is all Latin though besides his fair skin... (his name: Alejandro, his ball of fire personality, his love for dancing and certain Latin food). My oldest son addly named Ian has my tan skin color, speaks Spanish and considers himself Latino. Go figure! I call them my "cafe con leche" and LOVE them BOTH! :)
