We’re baaaack!!!!

You probably heard/read that we were in New York City last week. We just got back from spending an amazing few days there for BlogHer, the biggest blogger conference in the country. Not only did we meet a lot of incredibly talented fellow bloggers/blogueras face to face, but we also got a chance to talk about bilingualism and biculturalism with a bunch of different people, including the fantastic gente over at Vme TV (our sponsors to Blogher), Scholastic, Little Pim, Lectorum and Global Language Project.

I came back with a lot of ideas to explore in future posts, including random people’s reactions to the fact that I’m raising my children bilingual. There’s still such a strong belief in the myths we’ve been trying to dispel here daily during the last 18 months, but I think things are starting to change. In the meantime, we’ll continue to work to make sure every one out there understand that gifting your children with other languages and cultures is one of the best decisions you’ll ever make as a parent.

On another note, our journey to introduce a third language in my household, is well underway. My daughter, Vanessa, started a two-week stint at a French immersion summer camp on Monday and we couldn’t be happier. Her teacher was pretty impressed when I told her she already spoke Spanish and English ;) . I don’t know how much she’ll actually pick up in the next 10 days, but I’m using it as a way to finally get going with my dream to teach my daughter my third language. More on this later, I promise, including an announcement as to how I plan on making this happen that I think all of you are really going to enjoy.

Before I leave, I just wanted to let you know that you can visit our Facebook page to get a peek at some of what we were up to while in New York City the last few days. Enjoy!
