We signed with my son to help him “link” two languages… And we thought we had been clever :)
I love to see that others have used the same method… We found it to be very sucessful. I started signing at 9 months and almost gave up at 14 months when my son finally signed back! We don’t know ASL but learned a few signs online, made up a few of our own, and even my son made up a few of his own. Through out this experiment we always made sure to speak… In other words we were careful not to replace talking with signing. We had a wonderful experience with combining OPOL with signing and I love to hear that others have too!
