Hi Roxana, thanks for the beautiful story. I grew up with a wonderful dad, as well as my mom and two abuelitas. Unfortunately, one of my abuelos died before I was born. The other died when I was 2, and I have no recolection of him. My mom says that when I was little I was always a little sad about not having abuelos, and I'd say things like "Mira mama, ese nino SI tiene un abuelo".
Today, I am father myself and I am thrilled that my son can enjoy both his abuelo (on my side) and his grandpa (on my wife's side). I pray that he will for many years.
So happy father's day, papa, dad, and abuelos -wherever you are...

Roxana, this article is great. Thank you for sharing something so personal with us. One day maybe I can tell you more about me. But I had not the opportunity to "have" a dad, so I can not feel the same way you do. But I love my mom so much and I wish I can be like her so I guess this is the same way you feel of your dad. Your dad was a very smart guy pushing you, in a certain way to be bilingual. And I assure you that wherever he is now he must be very proud of you for the amazing job you do raising bilingual kids and helping many of us with that issue.
