Dear Roxi! I really enjoyed reading about the Puertorrican tradition of the “parranda”. I think it´s important for kids – bilingual or not – to follow traditions. It will give them a sense of belonging and sharing and being proud of their own culture thus increasing their self-esteem.

ah! Que nostalgia de mi islita. La verdad estoy totalmente de acuerdo.. showing is better than telling!
My husband and I are Puertorricans living in Co w/ an 11 month old baby.
We get the same question all the time – are going to teach her both languages?- we are surprised. for us is not an option not to. We love being bilingual and we want her to feel proud of her culture as well.
Congrats on the blog – ya lo estoy disfrutando..
